Edward G. Robinson

Edward G. Robinson

Emanuel Goldenberg, later known as Edward G. Robinson, was a Romanian-born actor who achieved fame for his roles as gangsters in films like Little Caesar (1931) and Key Largo (1948), while also portraying various biographical characters and appearing in psychological dramas. He successfully transitioned from Broadway to the film industry, and although he faced allegations of Communist affiliation during the McCarthy era, he was eventually cleared. In addition to his acting career, Robinson had a passion for fine art and had to sell off his extensive collection in a divorce settlement. He returned to Broadway in 1956 and received a posthumous Oscar for his lifetime achievements in 1973.
