John Gielgud

John Gielgud

John Gielgud, born in London, trained at Lady Benson's Acting School, RADA, and is renowned for his Shakespearean theater roles, including his debut as Hamlet at 26. He worked with Laurence Olivier and others at the "Old Vic" National Theatre and made his screen debut in 1924. Gielgud won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1981 for Arthur and was nominated in 1964 for Becket.
