Paul Winfield

Paul Winfield, a critically acclaimed black actor, gained Hollywood recognition in the 1970s. His breakthrough came with a leading role in the film Sounder (1972), earning him an Oscar nomination. He continued to excel on stage and screen, but did not achieve the same level of stardom as Sidney Poitier. Winfield's career spanned over four decades, with notable performances in films such as Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and TV shows like Touched by an Angel (1994). He passed away in 2004 at the age of 64.
