Richard Widmark
Richard Widmark was a highly acclaimed American actor who achieved success in film noir and thrillers with his distinct portrayals of complex, troubled, and corrupt characters. He worked steadily until his retirement in 1990. Born in Minnesota to Swedish and English-Scottish parents, Widmark initially pursued a career in law before turning to acting after a successful stage debut. He gained recognition for his breakout role as the psychopathic Tommy Udo in Kiss of Death (1947), which earned him an Academy Award nomination.
